Program X
Program
X is a safe, FUN, and supervised after-school program offered Monday
through Friday from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Room G-5. This is a place
for students to complete homework, socialize, and be creative in a
positive atmosphere. All participants must have a waiver signed by a
parent/guardian. Cost is $10 for the entire school year.

Teen Hang Out
Teens
looking for a place to go out on Friday nights, this is the answer! Teen
Hang Out, located at 1445 Santa Rosa at Meadow Park, provides seventh
and eighth graders a safe place to socialize with friends, dance while
the DJ plays favorite songs and just hang out. Concessions are available
with healthy options. Cost is $3 with an ASB card. Call the City of San
Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation Department at 781-7300, visit on-line
at www.slocity.org/parksandrecreation, or drop by the Administrative
Offices.
Requirements:
All participants must have a completed
waiver
or permission slip
signed by a parent or guardian. Waivers can be picked up at the Parks
and Recreation Department or at Laguna Middle School. Waivers are also
available online as a PDF file.

Quest
(formerly City Corps) at the Ludwick Community Center

Take on the
challenge and participate in this amazing work training session for
teens 14-16 years old. In this program, teens learn job ethics and
responsibility while given the opportunity to gain valuable work
experience. QUEST is based on the principle of “Teens Engaged
Achieve Milestones” or T.E.A.M. During the training
session, QUEST teens participate in T.E.A.M. building and cooperative
goals. Activities include participation in a ropes course challenge,
guided adventures in downtown San Luis Obispo and other interactive
games and sessions. Volunteer hours are included as one component of
the challenge. Spring Break 2010 program dates: March 29 - April 2.
Teen Idol
2009
 Let
the brightest stars shine with a night of entertainment and showmanship.
San Luis Obispo TEEN IDOL 2010 celebrates and encourages future stars
seeking to showcase talents through several weeks of rehearsals and one
finale performance. This amazing opportunity allows teens (13-18 years
old) to enhance musical and dramatic skills in a positive venue that
supports each participant. All participants of Teen Idol receive gifts and prizes from local
businesses supporting the talents of local youth.
SLO Skate Park
"Come get radical at the SLO Skate Park." - J.B.
The SLO Skate Park, located at Santa Rosa Park,
presents skaters the opportunity to master skills, learn and work on
new tricks, and have fun hanging out with peers.
New ramps were installed in April 2009.

Hours: 7 a.m. to dusk
The Santa Rosa Park skateboard park is an
unsupervised facility. Rules and regulations are posted on the fence. Rules enforced
by the Ranger Service and SLOPD.
Helmet, elbow and knee pads are required.
Fundraising for the SLO Skate Park is ongoing.

Seeking Teen
Program Volunteers!
The Parks and Recreation Department
is always seeking volunteers for programs and events, including coaches,
leaders, referees, instructors, planners, organizers, supervisors, and
much more. If interested, fill out the Volunteer Opportunities Application or call (805) 781-7300 for a rewarding experience working
with Teens.
Annually, volunteers are honored at a
dinner recognizing achievements. A volunteer of the year is chosen along with awards
for volunteers who have reached certain pinnacles in volunteer efforts with the
City.
