The following temporary part-time positions are now open in the Parks & Recreation Department:

Aquatic Exercise Instructors: Hours are Monday through Friday 11:30am-12:30pm and Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 5:30pm-6:30pm. $10.95/hr. Prior experience desired but not required. One instructor will not necessarily be required to teach all the classes.  Additional hours of instruction available in our new Therapy Pool. Lifeguards:  Hours will vary from Monday-Friday, 5:00-8:00am, 11:00am-1:30pm, 2:00-5:30pm, and 5:15-7:30pm; Saturdays 5:30-8:00am, 8:00-10:00am, 11:00am-2:00pm; Sundays 10:00am - 2:00pm.  $10.20/hr.  Duties include:  1)  program supervision, including prevention of accidents and user/staff safety; 2)  ability to respond to all details of an emergency; 3) competency in cash register operation, receipt documentation and public relations; 4)  must interact well with fellow staff and public; 5)  required to be able to retain knowledge learned through training.  Must possess the following:  1)  American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate; 2)  Minimum first aid acceptable is 15 hours of certified training in compliance with Title 22 of State Law; 3)  Minimum CPR training acceptable is 9 hours of instruction, including certification in adult, child and infant CPR, use of breathing devices and 2 rescuer CPR in compliance with Title 22 of State Law.  For more information, contact Robin Perrin, Aquatics Supervisor at (805)781-7288.

Recreation Leader-Teen Programs: Up to 25 hours per week, $8.15-$8.85/hr. Join the after school program at Laguna Middle School and actively lead seventh and eighth graders through constructive, educational and fun activities.  Program hours are 3-5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the exception of Wednesdays which are 2-5:30 p.m.  Assist with planning and implementing age-appropriate activities and prepare materials as required.  Set positive role models for youth and professionally interact with parents and administrators.  Additionally, participate in teen dances offered once a month on Fridays.  For more information or to fill out an application, contact Joey Chavez at 781-7441.
