Monster Skate Park Series 2013 at Local Skate Parks
Skateboarders of all abilities and ages are invited to participate
in the Monster Skate Park Series. The series travels across San Luis
Obispo County and visits six different skate parks to tally points
for each skater.

SLO Triathlon at Sinsheimer Park
This short course
triathlon (0.5 mile swim, 15.3 mile bike, 3.1 mile run) is a
community favorite which accommodates everyone from the novice to

Free movies at the Mission provide
cinematic fun in a unique outdoor setting. Bring a picnic or buy snacks
(proceeds go to the SLO SKATEPARK Building Fund).
Bike
Rodeo is a bicycle safety event located at Emerson Park (next to the Parks
and Recreation Offices at 1341 Nipomo Street). Come enjoy a FREE bicycle safety course,
safety skills ride on closed city streets, bike decorating, goody bags,
BBQ lunch, BMX stunt show! Bike, helmet and waiver required. Bike
tune-ups and helmet fittings offered.

The Jack family
lived in this house for nearly 100 years, but it has been many a
decade since anyone occupied the old place. Strange noises have been
heard emanating from these old walls. Could ghosts be hiding in the
closets or wandering down stairs? Come find out! Tour the dimly-lit
house and learn Jack family history and maybe more. Last tour begins
at 3:30 pm. Children 12 & under free.
Join the Parks and
Recreation Department and Mindful Mother’s for a family friendly
costume parade. Munchkins (and their families) will parade from
Mission Plaza through Farmers’ Market to the corner of Nipomo/Higuera.
Come early for a goody-bag and get your picture taken in the photo
booth ($5/photo). All parade participants are asked to bring a
canned food item to be donated to Food Bank.

Reindeer Run 5K Run/Walk
2012 at Mitchell Park
The Parks and Recreation Department is excited to host the second
annual Reindeer Run. Enjoy Breakfast with Santa at the Senior Center
immediately following the run/walk. 5K participants receive event t-shirt and breakfast
ticket. Holiday themed costumes encouraged! Additional
breakfast tickets: $5/kids;$10/adults. Race Day Registration
available from 6:30-7:30 am. Rain or shine! Reindeer Run Volunteers Needed!
All volunteers receive event t-shirt and Breakfast with Santa

Many special events are held throughout San Luis Obispo annually

Anyone
wishing to sponsor a special event within the City of San Luis Obispo
must complete aSpecial Events Permit Applicationas well
as all applicable items listed on the special event approval checklist
(page 1 of the application). The application must be received at least
90 days prior to the event. All special event fees applicable to your
event are determined by the fee policy included in the Special Events
Ordinance.

downtown locations are available: the intersection of Higuera and Chorro and the intersection of Marsh and Carmel.
All
Street Banner Reservation Requests MUST be made online.
Banners are permitted on a
first-come, first-serve basis.

Banner Reservations are NOT guaranteed until the
reservation request has been approved and full payment is
received. Full payment MUST be received within five
business days of approval or the permit will be canceled.
NOTE:
The minimum size a banner can be is 3 ft. x 8
ft. and the maximum is 4 ft. x 24 ft. Banners not
meeting minimum requirements WILL NOT BE HUNG.
