Emerson Community Garden

Want to have a garden but don't have the land to do so? Look into leasing a community garden plot!  We have three locations in San Luis Obispo where gardeners can till, weed and plant their own space.

How to get a plot…

The City of San Luis Obispo Community Garden plots are available to City residents on a first come, first serve basis. Plots are leased on a yearly bases for $24.00 per year. This payment is made in four installments of $6.00 every three months.

If you are interested in a plot, your name will be placed on a waiting list. When the next available plot in the garden you request becomes open, you will be called. Upon completion of your paper work and payment, you can start gardening.

Items about the plots:

  • Plots come as is.

  • Gardeners can only work their own plots.

  • Gardeners are required to clean up the paths/ walkways around their plots.

  • Plots lacking tender loving care (TLC) may be reclaimed by the City.

To place your name on the Garden Waiting list, please call Christine Wallace at the Parks and Recreation office at (805) 781-7303.
