Natural Resources Protection Program

In 2013-14 the program…

·         Entered into a partnership with Central Coast Grown for the long-term stewardship of the Calle Joaquin Agricultural Reserve, also known as “City Farm”

·         Completed the Filipponi Ranch Connector Trail between Johnson Ranch Open Space and the Irish Hills Natural Reserve

·         Completed the Mine Trail and Mariposa Trail expansions and improvements

·         Completed the Reservoir Natural Reserve Conservation Plan

·         Completed the Laguna Lake Natural Reserve Conservation Plan

Measure Y and Natural Resources

  • Since 2007, Measure Y has been the City’s sole source of Natural Resource project monies
  • Measure Y funds have contributed $952,500 for open space acquisition that has been matched by $2,227,500 in outside funds
  • Measure Y funds also have contributed nearly $500,000 in habitat and recreational improvements that have been matched by outside funds and thousands of hours of volunteer time.
