The City of San Luis Obispo's General Plan supports and actively implements sustainability through many programs to help achieve our environmental goals.
Climate Action Plan: The City’s Climate Action Plan lays out strategies to achieve emissions reductions to meet state guidance of 1990 levels by the year 2020.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory: This inventory was produced in 2009 to document the existing government and community-wide emissions. It was used to inform the strategies contained in the Climate Action Plan.
Environmental Stewardship Report (2009): The report summarizes the various ways the City of San Luis Obispo protects its natural resources and highlights the many policies and programs the City Council, Advisory Bodies, and City staff have implemented over the years.
The Air Pollution Control District (APCD) hosts an AmeriCorps team employed to help implement local Climate Action Plans (CAPs) in a new statewide program called CivicSpark. The program was created out of a partnership between the Local Government Commission and the Governor's Office of Planning and Research to provide local project work and identify supporting resources to meet localized climate protection goals. The Central Coast Team is working with city officials in the seven incorporated cities and SLO County to implement approved Climate Action Plans
