Measuring Our Performance: Using Benchmarks to
Assess Our Fiscal Accountability
How are we doing in
wisely using the resources we already have? To answer this
question, the City recently prepared a "benchmark" analysis comparing
City costs, revenues and service outcomes with similar cities in the
State, as well as staffing and workload trends and our use of "best
practices" in delivering services. The results show that we
compare favorably in virtually all areas of City operations, with the
City spending less and delivering more in many cases.
