Planning Commission Meeting Update

May 25, 2011                      Wednesday                             6:00 p.m.


ROLL CALL:      Commissioners Michael Draze, Eric Meyer, Airlin Singewald, Charles Stevenson, Vacant Position, Vice-Chairperson Mary Whittlesey, and Chairperson Michael Multari


MINUTES:  Minutes of May 11, 2011, were approved as amended.



1.    Winning Proposal from the Poly Housing Collaborative for the Bank of America Housing Challenge Competition.  2011-13 Budget Update

Four students involved in the project presented the project concepts to the Commission.  Commissioners expressed appreciation for the presentation.  No action was required.


2.    City-wide.  GPI 83-07: Study session to review amendments to the Residential Parking Standards for the Downtown Core and to the Parking Management and Access Plan to implement General Plan policy; City of San Luis Obispo – Community Development Department, Applicant.  (Phil Dunsmore)

RECOMMENDATION:  Take public testimony and direct staff to return with proposed code amendments to implement General Plan Policy in support of downtown residential parking.

ACTION:  Commissioners requested clarification of several points, discussed options and directed staff to return with amendments to the Parking Management and Access Plan and the Zoning Ordinance to address recommended parking options.


3.      Staff

a.  Agenda Forecast – Staff provided the forecast of June 8th and 22nd Commission meetings.

b.  Railroad Safety Trail Update:  Peggy Mandeville, Public Works staff member, provided the Commission with an overview and update of the grant funding, alignment, and construction progress to complete the Railroad Safety Bicycle Trail. 

 Commission – None 

ADJOURNMENT:  Meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
