Planning Commission Meeting Update

May 11, 2011                       Wednesday                               6:00 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

ROLL CALL:      Commissioners Michael Boswell, Michael Draze, Eric Meyer, Airlin Singewald, Charles Stevenson, Vice-Chairperson Mary Whittlesey, and Chairperson Michael Multari 

ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA:  Accepted. 

MINUTES:  Minutes of April 27, 2011, were approved as amended. 

PUBLIC COMMENT:  None

Chair Multari announces Commissioner Boswell's resignation from the Commission for personal reasons.

PRESENTATION:

1.    2011-13 Budget Update
A presentation on the City's proposed 2011-13 Financial Plan (Katie Lichtig & Michael Codron)

City Manager Lichtig presented the financial plan components and the process to date.  She answered Commissioner questions.

PUBLIC HEARINGS:

1.     City-wide.  O 18-11:  Annual report on the General Plan; City of San Luis Obispo– Community Development Department, applicant.  (Phil Dunsmore)

RECOMMENDATION:  Staff to forward report to City Council.

ACTION:  Commissioners offered comments for inclusion in the annual report that will be forwarded to the City Council.

COMMENT AND DISCUSSION:

2.    Staff

a.  Agenda Forecast – Staff provided the forecast of the May 25th and June 8th Commission meetings.

3.    Commission – Commissioner Stevenson reminded everyone of the opportunity to hear Dr. Jackson at the Cal Poly Spanos Theater on Wednesday, May 18, from    3 - 5 p.m.  This is a free event that is open to the public.

Commissioner Boswell thanked the Council, staff, and other Commissioners for his eight years on the Planning Commission.

Chair Multari indicated that he and Vice-Chair Whittlesey have been asked to participate on a focus group to discuss desirable characteristics of the next Community Development Director.

ADJOURNMENT:  Meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
