Planning Commission Meeting Update

April 27, 2011                      Wednesday                               6:00 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 

ROLL CALL:      Commissioners Michael Boswell, Michael Draze, Eric Meyer, Charles Stevenson, and Vice-Chairperson Mary Whittlesey 

                       Chair. Michael Multari and Commr. Airlin Singewald were absent. 

ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA:  Accepted 

MINUTES:  Minutes of April 13, 2011, were approved with slight modification (Draze).

PUBLIC COMMENT:  None

PUBLIC HEARINGS:

1.     City-wide.  GPA 8-11:  Zoning Code Update:  Study session on potential zoning regulation amendments including regulation of vehicle parking in residential front yards; City of San Luis Obispo – Community Development Department, applicant. (Brian Leveille) 

RECOMMENDATION:  Consider staff report analysis, public testimony, and Commission discussion, and provide a recommendation for staff to return to the Commission with draft ordinance modifications. 

John Sherry and Brett Cross spoke in support of front yard parking regulations. 

Planning staff, Police Chief Deb Linden, and Assistant City Attorney Andrea Visveshwara joined the Commission in the study session discussion. 

The Commission directed staff to return with proposed ordinance language to revise the Zoning Regulations sections on front yard parking and fence heights. 

Chief Linden discussed the need to bring the front yard parking regulations back in September so as to engage the student community. 

COMMENT AND DISCUSSION:

2.    Staff

       a.  Agenda Forecast – Deputy Director Davidson provided the agenda forecast. 

3.    Commission – Vice-Chair Whittlesey updated the group on attending the Mayor's Quarterly Lunch. 

ADJOURNMENT:  Meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
