Planning Commission Meeting Update

April 25, 2012                  Wednesday                             6:00 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

ROLL CALL:      Commissioners John Fowler, John Larson, Michael Multari, Charles Stevenson, Vice-Chairperson Eric Meyer, and Chairperson Michael Draze

                       Commissioner Singewald was absent.

ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA:  Agenda was accepted.

MINUTES:  Minutes of April 11, 2012, were approved as revised.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None

PUBLIC HEARINGS:

1.     City-Wide.  R/TA 101-11:  Municipal Code text amendments to enhance alcohol outlet regulations to improve public safety; City of San Luis Obispo – Community Development Department, applicant.  (Doug Davidson)

RECOMMENDATION:  Adopt the attached PC Resolution which recommends that the City Council adopt the proposed amendments to Title 17 (Zoning Regulations) of the Municipal Code to enhance alcohol outlet regulations to improve public safety.

ACTION:  Moved by Commissioner Multari, seconded by Commissioner Stevenson, to adopt the staff recommendation with minor edits to the Deemed Approved Ordinance (6:0).

2.     City-Wide.  TA 143-11:  Municipal Code text amendments which update and revise front yard parking regulations; and removal of minimum timeframes for property maintenance violations; Community Development Department, applicant. (Brian Leveille)

RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the Planning Commission Resolution which recommends that the City Council adopt the proposed amendments to the Municipal Code.

ACTION:  Moved by Commissioner Stevenson, seconded by Commissioner Meyer, to adopt the staff recommendation (4:2, Multari, Fowler).

COMMENT AND DISCUSSION:

3.    Staff

a.  Agenda Forecast – Deputy Director Davidson provided the agenda forecast. 

4.    Commission – Commissioner Multari invited the Commission to the Economic Development Strategic Plan workshop on April 26th at the City-County library.

The Commission asked staff to agendize a discussion on the impacts of rental units in neighborhoods.

 ADJOURNMENT – Meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
