Minutes of June 27, 2011, were approved as amended.
PUBLIC HEARING ITEMS:
63-11; Review property for placement on the City's List of Historic
Resources; R-2 zone; Maggie Browning, applicant.
Recommend the City Council add the property located at 868 Upham
Street to the Master List of Historic Resources
Moved by Kalkowski/Hill to recommend placement on the City's Master
List of Historic Resources with a condition to review accessory
structures and front façade modifications if the property is
reviewed for Mills Act benefits in the future (6:0).
ARC 124-06; Review project redesign for the Garden Street Terraces
project; C-D-H zone; Garden Street SLO Partners, LP, applicant.
Determine that the revised project design is
appropriate in the Downtown Commercial Zone and Downtown Historical
District, and recommend final approval of the project design to the
Architectural Review Commission and City Council, based on findings
and subject to conditions.
Moved by Fowler/Dandekar to forward the project to the Architectural
Review Commission as recommended by staff with a report on the
archeological monitoring of the site excavation to return to the CHC
during project construction (6:0).
CHC 48-11; Continued study session to review draft program for
updating the City's Historic Resource Inventory; City of San Luis
Obispo, Applicant. (Phil Dunsmore)
Receive public and Committee testimony, further define subcommittee
assignments, introduce an outreach program, and continue the item to
the regular August CHC meeting.
Moved by Hill/Kalkowski to evaluate the neighborhood east of Old
Town Historic District for an evaluation of potential historic
resources and continue the discussion to the regular August meeting.
COMMENT AND DISCUSSION:
Staff presented an agenda forecast of the August CHC meeting
Committee Member Kalkowski discussed ongoing efforts to encourage
the Sunset Drive-in to become a historic resource.
