Heritage Committee Meeting Update

Minutes of January 23, 2012, were approved as written.
Dan Krieger discussed the history behind Terrace Hill and how
the hill may hold significance as a historic resource. Dan's
testimony included a recommendation for the CHC to add the property
to the City's list of historic resources. Following Dan's
presentation the CHC discussed how staff could evaluate the
potential for Terrace Hill to be placed on the City's list of

PUBLIC HEARING ITEMS:
65-11; Review of property for placement on the Master List of
Historic Resources; R-2 zone; William M. Casella, applicant.
Recommend the City Council add the property located at 1225 Pismo
Street to the Contributing Properties List of Historic Resources.
Moved by Hill/Costello to recommend the City Council add the
property to the Master List of Historic Resources and require the
windows and other exterior details to be restored/replaced prior to
a Mills Act application. The CHC clarified that only the primary
residence is eligible for listing. (7:0).
ARCMI 88-11; Review of new four-unit residential project in the Old
Town Historic District; R-2-H zone; Dylan Chappel, applicant.
Recommend the Community Development Director find the proposed
residential units and site improvements consistent with the Historic
Preservation Program Guidelines and approve the proposed residential
units and site improvements subject to conditions.
Moved by Pavlik/Fowler to continue review of the item and recommend
changes to the massing, scale, and architectural exterior, and
return to the CHC (7:0).
CHC 48-11; Continued review of updates to the Historic Resources
Inventory; City of San Luis Obispo, applicant. (Continued
from January 23, 2012, meeting)
Receive public and Committee testimony, continue discussing survey
results, and continue the item to the regular March CHC hearing.

COMMENT AND DISCUSSION:
discussed the agenda forecast for March and noted that the State
Office of Historic Preservation had accepted the City's application
to become a Certified Local Government.
Committee Member Kalkowski requested the property at 117 Longview be
considered for listing at the regular March CHC hearing. No formal
action was taken by the CHC on Kalkowski's request.
