Review Commission Meeting Update
May 2, 2011 Monday
OATH OF OFFICE:
Re-appointed Commissioner Ken Curtis was sworn in.
Ken Curtis, Suzan Ehdaie, Steven Hopkins, Michelle McCovey-Good, Greg
Wynn, Vice-Chair Jim Duffy, and Chairperson Anthony Palazzo
Commr. Ehdaie was absent.
ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA:
Minutes of April 4 and 18, 2011, were approved
There was no public comment other than on regular agenda items.
Los Osos Valley Road.
ARC 37-11; Architectural review of a 36,000 square foot commercial
building in the Prefumo Creek Commons development; CR zone; Clint
Pearce, applicant. (Brian Leveille)
Adopt the Draft Resolution, which grants final approval to the retail
commercial building, based on findings, and subject to conditions of
Moved by Vice-Chair Duffy, seconded by Commr.
Hopkins, to adopt the draft resolution granting final approval to the
project as recommended by staff with the modification of Condition No. 2
and an added condition (4:2 – Commrs. Wynn & Curtis voting no).
Condition No. 2 was modified to read: “The width of the metal accent
entry feature shall be revised to reduce its overall scale to the
approval of the Community Development
The following condition was added: “Signage is prohibited on the north
building elevation facing the residential properties.”
COMMENT & DISCUSSION:
Agenda Forecast – Pam Ricci provided a forecast
for upcoming agendas.
Commr. Hopkins mentioned how the façade of Enzo's had been repainted to
an adobe red color which noticeably improved its appearance.
Commr. Wynn observed that some cheaper materials were being used for
signage in the downtown core that detracted from the quality of the
appearance of buildings. He suggested that the Commission discuss the
existing sign requirements and ways that they might be refined to
address the quality concern.
