Review Commission Meeting Update
April 18, 2011 Monday
Ken Curtis (re-appointed to be sworn in on May 2, 2011), Suzan Ehdaie,
Steven Hopkins, Michelle McCovey-Good, Greg Wynn, Vice-Chair Jim Duffy,
and Chairperson Anthony Palazzo
Commissioners Curtis, Ehdaie, and McCovey-Good were absent.
ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA:
Accepted as presented.
Minutes of April 4, 2011 were continued to
allow for a quorum of Commissioners that were present at the meeting.
There was no public comment other than on regular agenda items.
ARCMI 26-11; Review of remodel to existing storefronts in the downtown
historic district; C-D-H zone; Jerry & Peggy Martin, applicants.
Adopt the Draft Resolution, which grants final approval to the project
design, based on findings, and subject to conditions of approval.
seconded by Vice-Chair Duffy,
to adopt the draft resolution granting final approval to
the project as recommended by staff with the elimination of Condition
No. 2 and a modification to Condition No. 3
(4:0). The modification included the following change in
wording to Sentence No. 2: The
canopy/awnings on Higuera Street shall break on either side of the
central 4-foot wide pilaster.
COMMENT & DISCUSSION:
Agenda Forecast Pam Ricci provided a forecast
for upcoming agendas.
By-Laws Biennial Review The Commission had
no changes to the by-laws.
Budget Update Ryan Betz gave an update on the
overall budget process. He noted how some of the recommended ARC budget
goals were incorporated into certain Major City Goals and Other
Commr. Hopkins mentioned that he liked the outdoor seating that has been
created for the new Nautical Bean on Chorro Street across from the
Mission. He mentioned that the seating for Enzo's on Higuera Street did
not appear as complete. Commr. Wynn added that the seating at Enzo's
felt more confining.
Commr. Hopkins and others mentioned that the revised building colors for
the Forum on Marsh Street markedly improved the appearance of the
meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the
Architectural Review Commission regarding any item on this agenda
will be made available for public inspection in the Community
Development Department, 919 Palm Street, during normal business hours.
