ARCMI 145-11; Review of horse statue at the corner of Foothill Blvd. and
North Chorro Street for Black Horse Coffee Shop; C-N zone; SLO Uptown

Adopt the draft resolution, which grants final approval to the project,
based on findings, and subject to conditions.
by Chairperson Palazzo, seconded by Commr. McCovey-Good, to adopt the
resolution to approve the art piece, based on the findings, and subject
to the conditions as recommended by staff (5:0).

ARC 50-09; Conceptual review of mixed-use project with 3,900 sq. ft. of
commercial space and seven residential units; C-N zone; ICON at SLO,

Continue the item to a date uncertain with direction on any needed
revisions to the site plan, building design and floor plans, and parking
configuration to address issues raised in the staff report.

date certain of March 5, 2012, to allow new information from the
applicant to be considered with the project analysis (5:0).
COMMENT & DISCUSSION:
Forecast – Pam
Ricci provided a forecast for upcoming agendas. She provided an update
on ARC recruitment noting that Vice-Chair Duffy was being recommended to
serve a second four-year term. She also reminded the Commission about
the upcoming Advisory Body Recognition Event scheduled for Thursday,
March 1st, at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chamber at City Hall.
Commr. Hopkins mentioned that the landscaping at Prefumo Creek Commons
was nicely installed and adds to the attractiveness of the project. He
also mentioned the recent URM remodel at Broad and Higuera Streets and
how the project could benefit from some pedestrian level signs.
Commission discussed the City improvements being installed along Higuera
Street in the downtown core. The topic of street trees came up. Staff
suggested to the Commission that the City Arborist attend a future
meeting to provide a presentation about plans for street trees in the
meeting was adjourned at 5:46 p.m.
Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the
Architectural Review Commission regarding any item on this agenda
will be made available for public inspection in the Community
Development Department, 919 Palm Street, during normal business hours.
