Architectural Review Commission Meeting Update
Regular Meeting

January 9, 2012                           Monday                                     5:00 p.m.

ROLL CALL:      Commrs. Ken Curtis, Suzan Ehdaie, Steven Hopkins, Michelle McCovey-Good, Greg Wynn, Vice-Chair Jim Duffy, and Chairperson Anthony Palazzo

                        Vice-Chair Duffy & Commr. Hopkins were absent.

ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA:  Accepted as presented.

MINUTES:  Minutes of November 21, 2011, and December 12, 2011, were approved as prepared.


There was no public comment other than on regular agenda items.


1.     297 Madonna Road.  ARC-S 138-11; Review of Madonna Road-oriented, ten-foot diameter wall signage for Chipotle Mexican Grill; C-R zone; Chipotle Mexican Grill, applicant.  (Marcus Carloni)

RECOMMENDATION:  Adopt the draft resolution approving an exception to the Sign Regulations allowing a wall sign on a building face that does not have a public entry, based on findings, and subject to conditions of approval.

ACTION:  Moved by Commr. Wynn, seconded by Commr. Ehdaie, to adopt the resolution to approve an exception allowing the wall sign facing Madonna Road, based on findings, and subject to conditions (3-2 with Commr. Curtis & Chairperson Palazzo voting no).  Finding No. 2 was modified to delete the words “is for superior design” and Condition No. 8 was modified to allow a circular medallion sign to be eight feet rather than the five feet recommended by staff.


1.    Staff:

a.  Agenda Forecast – Pam Ricci provided a forecast for upcoming agendas.

b.  Fresh & Easy update:  Pam Ricci explained the presence of the electrical cabinet facing Broad Street and screening proposed to encase the conduit extending out of the top of the cabinet with siding to match the adjacent wall.


The meeting was adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
