Municipal Election Vacant
Seat
The election of an
incumbent Council Member to the office of Mayor has left a vacant Council Member seat.
In accordance with
provisions set forth in the City's Charter, the City Council
had the opportunity to appoint a qualified resident of the
City to fill the vacancy for the remaining two years of the
vacant seat.
If a majority of the Council could not agree on an
individual to appoint, a special election would need to be held in the City of San
Luis Obispo to fill the vacant seat.
The City Council
held a Special Meeting on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 7:00 PM,
at which Dan Carpenter was appointed to the office of Council
Member to fill the vacant seat.
