Final Report
Purpose
The
Fiscal Sustainability Task Force was convened in June 2010 by the
City Manager, Katie Lichtig, to assist her on a five year or longer
strategy to attain financial sustainability for the City. The intent
of this team is to understand the data, policy constraints, and
opportunities for the City's fiscal sustainability into the future.
The Task Force will make suggestions and recommendations that will
assist Katie in creating future financial plans.
Composition & Intention Highlights

The Task
Force is intended to assist and educate Katie in preparation of
her
first budget process with the City of San Luis Obispo;

The Task
Force will in no way replace any portion of this community’s
robust goal-setting and budgeting process that will result in
the council adopted two-year financial plan for 2011-13 next
June;

There are
currently 30 members of the Task Force – 9 employees (no
department heads) and 21 members of the community;

Task Force
members come from nearly all segments of San Luis Obispo,
including residents, businesses, the tourism industry, city
employees, Cal Poly, and many more.
