Fiscal Sustainability Task Force

Fiscal Sustainability Task Force Final Report

Purpose

The Fiscal Sustainability Task Force was convened in June 2010 by the City Manager, Katie Lichtig, to assist her on a five year or longer strategy to attain financial sustainability for the City. The intent of this team is to understand the data, policy constraints, and opportunities for the City's fiscal sustainability into the future. The Task Force will make suggestions and recommendations that will assist Katie in creating future financial plans.

Composition & Intention Highlights

  • The Task Force is intended to assist and educate Katie in preparation of her first budget process with the City of San Luis Obispo;
  • The Task Force will in no way replace any portion of this community’s robust goal-setting and budgeting process that will result in the council adopted two-year financial plan for 2011-13 next June;
  • There are currently 30 members of the Task Force – 9 employees (no department heads) and 21 members of the community;
  • Task Force members come from nearly all segments of San Luis Obispo, including residents, businesses, the tourism industry, city employees, Cal Poly, and many more.
