Railroad Safety Trail Back Open Following Repairs

Post Date:06/06/2018 2:59 PM

The southern portion of the Railroad Safety Trail near Orcutt Road is back open following repairs due to fire damage.

Additional work will be necessary to repair the fencing along the culvert and underground conduit. If this work requires another trail closure, prior notice will be given. Until the underground conduit is repaired, trail users should be aware there is no lighting along the trail and to exercise care at night. The tentative date for lighting to be restored is June 22.

A map of the impacted area is available HERE.

The Railroad Safety Trail is a bicycle and pedestrian path next to the railroad tracks that connects Cal Poly to the city’s southern limits. The fire was set last month, and officials are investigating as they say it was set intentionally.

We appreciate your patience as repairs are made. If you have any issues or questions please call the Public Works Department at 805-781-7200.
